Pencil Drawing - What to Focus on in Pencil Drawing

Sketching and painting to have had their importance for the humans like us for over the centuries, in different forms that varied from one situation to another. At certain times people had to record some incidents in the mode of pictures, so that it would be understood by everybody; this was there in ancient times also, when a man did not have any proper means of communication. However, as of now the most basic form of getting involved in this art is that of pencil drawing, by which individuals get used to the concept of painting or sketching.

Getting the proper shapes and sizes

In the earlier days, when the cave dwellers painted certain occurrences of their period, or in the primitive civilizations, the shapes and sizes of the painted objects did not matter much. However, it is almost mandatory now that you attain the figure nearest to perfection, because at times it becomes really difficult to understand what we are trying to depict from the viewers perspective. Through the help of pencil drawing individuals are provided the training of how to get the proper shapes of objects.

Pencil drawing enables the individuals to erase the mistaken stroke and redraw it on the texture, and keep doing it unless it is almost perfect. Even if you get the shapes of the objects right, you must be careful of the size and proportion of the entire scope. It looks really odd if the structure that you are trying to complete has the proper shape in its respective parts, but finally turns out to be completely disproportionate. Thus, you must always try and perfect your strokes and ideas regarding these matters through the help of pencil drawing.

Attain proper shading and outlining

As far as sketching is concerned, the use of colors are far from visibility and the painter has to be solely dependent on the drawing material; which in the case of pencil drawing is the pencil itself. The expressions or current situation of the environment could be brought out, only through proper shading and outlining. For the learners beginning with pencil drawing, it might be a little difficult, but the experienced people find it rather easy come and go for themselves.

Even in the case of outlining, during the process of pencil drawing, it must be carefully noted that the entire outlining is not done applying the same pressure; instead at certain places the outlining is as good as nil. Shading based on these outlining would bring about a piece of art that could be well appreciated by everyone.

Thus, we must always keep in mind that pencil drawing may be a process of learning the art, but in the long run it is something that every artist rely on something to perfect their work. Some of the important factors to note in pencil drawing are the usage of sharpened pencil, application of strokes and their pressure, along with the minute detailing through the shading of the figure. Each of these aspects, if taken care of individually, would result in a truly great work of pencil drawing.
